Plastics
There’s a range of
information, advice and reports on plastic pollution in books and on
the internet: from its origins and production processes to its
classifications and safety or toxicity levels, to the the uses of and
dangers associated with plastics - to the alternatives.
This nature focus coincides with World Environment Day and the image
represents a perfect blue – but such apparent perfection is only
skin-deep, for waste beneath the waves and washed up along the beach
is an indication of an ugly world for wildlife.
Nearby, a seagull, with a small piece of thread caught loosely around its ankle, went about its daily business of perching on the break-waters, rifling through beach litter and flying in circles near the busy amusement and fast-food pier, as though everything was in order.
