Nature Challenge : Look up to the Stars

The sky at night.
Shapes in the Clouds

Look up to the sky and what do you see? Children often see shapes in the clouds. This dark cloud appeared in a turbulent sky - set against the light of the moon, it looks quite dramatic! Is it a bird...is it a plane...no, it's a bat?

A short exchange between Hamlet and Polonious reveals that, even in Shakespeare's time, cloud spotting was a common pastime.

HAMLET
Do you see yonder cloud that’s almost in shape of a camel?

POLONIUS
By th' mass, and ’tis like a camel indeed.

HAMLET
Methinks it is like a weasel.

POLONIUS
It is backed like a weasel.

HAMLET
Or like a whale.

POLONIUS
Very like a whale.
